Fire Safety and Emergency Training Options for your Workplace

Ensuring that your staff members are kept up to date on fire safety and emergency evacuation procedures is crucial. One way of making sure that your employees are well-informed is to invest in a fire and emergency training course. There are a lot of such courses available for Australian workplaces.

Fire Extinguisher Training

The ability to use a fire extinguisher in the event of an emergency is a must. Workplaces are generally equipped with several different types of fire extinguishers, and training in how and when to use a particular extinguisher may help ensure the safety of staff. Fire extinguisher information programs include both practical training and theoretical components. Participants will learn about safety regulations, the various types and classes of fire, and the different methods used for extinguishing fires. Participants in these programs should also come away with an understanding of how to use fire extinguishers and other extinguishing equipment.

Confined Space Training

Nominated fire wardens or staff working in challenging environments may find themselves needing to perform their duties within an enclosed space. As such, safety training on negotiating confined spaces is an vital part of any workplace safety training regimen. As part of this training, staff members will learn how to operate breathing apparatus and safely enter confined spaces. Some participants may also undertake training in rescue operations as required.

Emergency Training

Training in how to respond to an emergency situation is an important component of workplace safety. Staff, and in particular nominated emergency warden staff, must be able to manage a variety of emergency situations in a safe and proper way. Effective training programs include a variety of key competencies, including the ability to prepare for emergencies, the ability to report emergencies, the ability to respond to the emergency and to implement any advice provided by the emergency authorities. This includes the ability to evacuate, or oversee the evacuation of an area.

Fire Evacuation Plan Training

All workplaces need to have a current fire evacuation plan. These plans should highlight evacuation points and routes for all staff, including disabled persons, and should be used as a basis for co-coordinating an evacuation in an emergency. Evacuation plan training also involves factors such as how to raise the alarm in the event of a fire, how to notify the relevant authorities, and how to begin the evacuation.

Keeping on top of fire and emergency situations is crucial. make sure that your staff members are kept informed about emergency procedures by enrolling them in a fire and emergency training course today.

I have used AF&S to arrange both onsite and offsite training. They have been a pleasure to deal with administratively and we have received positive feedback from staff regarding the training provided.

Steve and his team are always a reliable source of information and AF&S is our preferred fire and safety training provider. Having conducted training for our student leadership team for the past few years I would highly recommend them. They are willing to go beyond usual training requirements, and tailor their services to our unique needs.

The Australasian Fire & Safety team has provided training to our organisation for many years. The training sessions are perfect overviews of the necessary detail required for our business needs. The sessions are extremely well structured, planned and focused with the instructor also managing to enlighten us with some humour which made the session interesting and understandable. I definitely feel confident in offering their service to clients.

“Australasian Fire & Safety provide fire training for our new shift managers. They are very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The sessions are well structured, informative, practical and engaging”

It was a different type of learning with the trainer. He was informative, engaging, fun and patient with trainees. The best training ever.

Informative, entertaining and well-run course. Professionally presented adult learning, with enough humour to engage participants in the very important but reasonably dry subject matter. Steve is very knowledgeable and maintains enthusiasm throughout the day. I will wear the red hat with confidence (though hopefully I never need to!).
